Apple TV+ secures a record 89 Emmy nominations across 15 programs for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards. Widow’s Bay gets 19 nominations and Pluribus lands 18, with the network leading in outstanding drama and comedy series. Several acting and directing nominations also go to stars from the leading programs. This follows Apple TV+’s success at last year’s Emmy Awards.

Apple secured a historic 89 nominations across 15 programs for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards.

Apple leads major drama and comedy categories. The network earned the most nominations of any outlet in the Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Comedy Series categories. Top program nods went to comedies Widow’s Bay, Shrinking, and Margo’s Got Money Troubles as well as dramas Pluribus, Slow Horses, and Your Friends & Neighbors.
The Studio became the most-winning freshman comedy in Emmy history while Severance led as the year’s most-winning drama.
Breakout comedy Widow’s Bay received 19 nominations in total. Drama Pluribus landed 18 nominations after its widely acclaimed first season. Shrinking earned 10 nominations, Slow Horses received nine, and Margo’s Got Money Troubles scored eight.

Widow’s Bay and Pluribus dominate individual categories. Widow’s Bay is nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series along with six acting nominations. These include Outstanding Lead Actor for Matthew Rhys, Outstanding Supporting Actor for Kate O’Flynn, Dale Dickey, and Stephen Root, and Outstanding Guest Actor for Hamish Linklater and Betty Gilpin. The series also received nominations for Outstanding Directing, Outstanding Writing, and Outstanding Editing.

Pluribus earned a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series. Creator Vince Gilligan received nods for Outstanding Writing and Outstanding Directing. Star Rhea Seehorn is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, while Karolina Wydra and Carlos-Manuel Vesga received Outstanding Supporting Actor nominations and Jeff Hiller and Miriam Shor earned Outstanding Guest Actor nods.

Shrinking and nonfiction series add to the total. Shrinking, an Outstanding Comedy Series nominee, landed 10 nominations including Outstanding Lead Actor for Jason Segel. Award-winning nonfiction series Mr. Scorsese and The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy received top program nominations.

Additional nominations went to Foundation, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, The Morning Show, Murderbot, Palm Royale, and Smoke. The nominations were announced today by the Television Academy. Winners will be revealed at a ceremony on September 14.
Record follows last year’s Emmy wins. The 89 nominations follow Apple TV+ leading last year’s 77th Primetime Emmy Awards. The Studio became the most-winning freshman comedy in Emmy history while Severance led as the year’s most-winning drama. Matt Cherniss, Apple TV’s head of programming, said, “Great stories have the ability to entertain, surprise, and bring people together, and these unprecedented nominations recognize shows that have done exactly that.”
