Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s DMZ mode launched early on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and Battle.net ahead of the October 23 global release. Players deploy to the Hajin map, gather valuables, and extract before enemy forces eliminate them. Success hinges on loadouts and Operator development. Players begin with two Active Duty slots; a third unlocks via DMZ Player Level progression. Operators grow stronger by surviving deployments and earning DMZ XP. Dog Tags track progress and unlock Traits.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s DMZ extraction mode is now live in early access on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, Battle.net and other platforms, ahead of the game's October 23 global launch. Early access requires a pre-order, according to official posts from Xbox and Nintendo of America, which says Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders also get access.

DMZ deploys players to the Hajin map for resource extraction. Operators must gather valuables and extract before enemy forces eliminate them. Success depends on loadouts brought into each deployment and how players recruit and develop their Operators.
Dog Tags track Operator progress and enable Trait unlocks.

Players start with two Active Duty Operator slots. A third slot unlocks through DMZ Player Level progression. Operators function as individual characters that grow stronger by surviving deployments and earning DMZ XP.

Dog Tags track Operator progress and enable Trait unlocks. Quality improves with exfils and XP gains. Collected Dog Tags appear in the Loadout profile alongside any bounties or eliminated human Operators.
Three Trait Trees let Operators specialize across playstyles.
MIA Operators require cash recovery or dismissal. Recovery costs rise with invested Trait Points, preserving traits but resetting gear. Players can always secure a Free Loadout for each deployment.

Three Trait Trees let Operators specialize across playstyles. Successful exfils award Trait Points spendable in Warfighter, Scout, and Survivalist trees. Points can be banked or spent immediately after Dog Tag leveling. There are 66 Traits in total, but any single Operator can earn no more than 18.
