Commodore opens preorders for the Commodore 77 Cyberpunk 2077 Edition of its C64 Ultimate at $377, with shipments scheduled for early 2027. The machine offers a dystopian Night City design, faster FPGA hardware reaching 77 MHz, an exclusive demo cartridge, and themed physical extras in the company's first franchise hardware partnership.

Commodore has unveiled the Commodore 77, a Cyberpunk 2077-themed special edition of its C64 Ultimate retro computer, at Gamescom 2026. The machine is now available for preorder at $377 with shipments scheduled for early 2027.

The Commodore 77 adopts a dystopian Night City aesthetic. Its yellow breadbox case features dinged-up surfaces, graffiti markings, a brushed metal plate on the function row, and half-removed stickers. The boot screen has been redesigned as a custom Commodore 77 BASIC 2.0 theme with new menu colors that fit the game's universe. A custom neon power light completes the look.

Hardware upgrades distinguish the Commodore 77 from the standard C64 Ultimate. The system uses an AMD Xilinx Artix-7 XC7A100T FPGA with twice the logic cells, twice the block RAM, and more I/O than the XC7A50T in the base model. It is said to achieve speeds of 77 MHz compared with the original Commodore 64's 1 MHz. The machine retains full backwards compatibility with original C64 accessories and includes HDMI, USB, and WiFi.

An exclusive 2MB demo cartridge expands Cyberpunk 2077 lore. Created by Polish C64 demo group Arise with an original chiptune soundtrack by LukHash, the cartridge leverages the system's 24-channel stereo SID chip audio. LEDs behind the smoked translucent base light up and dance in sync with the demo. The cartridge is themed as an "Arasaka" design and ships inside collectible packaging.

Commodore was revived by YouTuber Christian "Perifractic" Simpson. Simpson serves as president, CEO, and chief product officer. The 64 Ultimate was the firm's first product, recreated using original injection mold tooling. Simpson noted his discussions with CD Projekt Red joint CEO Michał Nowakowski, who is a lifelong Commodore 64 fan. Preorders are open now at Commodore.net.
