Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 has concluded with a packed showcase of over 50 announcements, including new trailers for major sequels, remasters, indie surprises, and concrete release dates for several anticipated titles. Geoff Keighley hosted the main event on August 25, which followed a pre-show led by Kyle Bosman and featured everything from action RPGs and horror games to simulation titles and tactical spin-offs.
High-profile sequels and expansions receive new footage and firm dates. Capcom presented a new trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, set to launch on PC and consoles September 4 with an updated demo. Gears of War: E-Day drops October 6 on Xbox and PC, with a campaign trailer spotlighting the prequel story, Bravo squad, and the Locust threat. Path of Exile 2 reaches version 1.0 on December 11, while The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered arrives at the end of September with a free upgrade and enhanced visuals. Its new expansion, The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past, also received a reveal trailer 12 years after the base game.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the concluding chapter of Square Enix's remake trilogy, appeared in a story trailer targeting a spring release on PC and consoles. Metro 2039 returned with gritty new gameplay footage, and Rainbow Six Tactics introduced an XCOM-style experience using Siege operators for a 2027 launch on PC. Ananta offered anime-style open-world gameplay with swinging mechanics reminiscent of Spider-Man, scheduled for January 15, 2027 on PC.
Horror and action titles dominate the evening's reveals. Silent Hill: Townfall received a cast reveal trailer for its first-person horror experience set in Scotland, arriving next month on PC and consoles. Perceptum, a spooky first-person horror game, targets 2027 on Steam. Valor Mortis, a first-person action soulslike, lands in October. The Blood of Dawnwalker and Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy both near launch, with trailers highlighting their imminent releases.
Tides of Annihilation showcased its lead character Gwendolyn, designed by Angela Sant’Albano. Exodus, compared to Mass Effect with a sentient octopus squadmate, arrives April 7, 2027. Control: Resonant from Remedy appears in a new trailer set for release in a few weeks. Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 and a new Megaman: Dual Override title, featuring the boss Twinkle Girl, also received spotlight treatment for 2027.

Age Twisters mixes co-op puzzle adventure between a kid and grandpa, while Aniimo, a creature collector, arrives next month.
Simulation fans saw Train Sim World 7 set for September 15, Roller Coaster Tycoon: Wonderworks heading to Steam early access soon, and Transport Fever 3 plus LEGO Skylines among other upcoming releases. Worms: Galactic Tactics introduced a new strategic tactics entry, and Crazy Taxi: World Tour returned with a multiplayer trailer for 2027. Stage Tour revives Guitar Hero-style gameplay for December 10 with included peripherals.
Additional announcements round out the showcase with strategy, remakes, and more. Game of Thrones: War for Westeros appeared as an RTS featuring characters such as Robb Stark, Daenerys, and the Night King. Humankind 2, Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Remake, and Afterworld from Paradox Interactive also debuted. Remakes and revivals included Rayman Legends Retold on October 1, Turok Origins for spring 2027 with co-op, and a new Hitman: World of Assassination collaboration featuring Snoop Dogg as a target.
Other titles that appeared include Sea of Remnants, Crimson Desert: Enhanced with post-launch content and a sale, Lofsöng, PUBG: ded.net, Dust: Origins, Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons, 1001: Threads of Mizan, Silver Palace: House of Greed, Aion 2 on October 5, 1666: Amsterdam now in early access, Road Kings for March 11 2027, Gravhounds, Exterminauts from Level Infinite, Pony Island 2: Panda Circus, Zoopunk, There Are No Ghosts at the Grand for December early access, Roco Kingdom, The Defiant, Tarae: The Unbound, Like or Die, No Law, Project Zeta, Cinder City, and Ontos. The event wrapped gamescom 2026 previews running through August 30.
