iPhone 18 Pro Leaks, BYD’s 10,000 Chargers, DLSS 5 Mod

This week brought fresh leaks on Apple’s next flagship, rapid expansion of ultra-fast EV charging infrastructure, and creative AI repurposing by tinkerers. The stories also include a cautionary tale on SIM swapping scams that drained one victim of nearly 17,000 euros.

BYD has installed 10,000 ultra-fast chargers since March 5. Since March 5 the company has added 55 charging stations per day across 325 cities, reaching the 10,000-station milestone on August 28. Nearly one third of the 1.83 million registered users do not drive a BYD vehicle, and each Flash Charging station can deliver up to 1.5 megawatts, enough for a 10-to-70 percent charge in five minutes according to the manufacturer. Dummy units of the iPhone 18 Pro have surfaced one week before Apple’s keynote. Photos and videos of the devices, manufactured in China from accessory-maker data, are circulating on social networks and are expected to closely match the final design. Color options remain unconfirmed, with one video listing silver, black, light blue and burgundy while a later leak drops silver; the September 9 event will also be the first under new chief executive John Ternus. A tinkerer has applied Nvidia DLSS 5 to Super Mario Odyssey without using an emulator. French authorities are warning about SIM swapping scams that drain bank accounts. Scammers gather personal data, impersonate victims to obtain a new SIM or eSIM from operators, and intercept two-factor authentication codes. A developer demonstrated cleaning an Android TV with Claude in roughly 20 minutes. The method uses a large language model to remove preinstalled applications and Google services that slow the device.
