BMW opens orders early in Germany for the second-generation i3 electric sedan. The standard 50 xDrive model starts at €65,900 and delivers 912 km WLTP range. High demand for Neue Klasse vehicles prompts the advance three months ahead of the autumn 2026 launch, while production starts in August as planned.

BMW has opened orders for the second-generation i3 electric sedan in Germany more than three months ahead of the planned autumn 2026 start. The move, announced June 18 2026, applies first to a launch First Edition trim equipped with the 50 xDrive powertrain that delivers a WLTP range of 912 km.

Orders advance on strong public interest. The earlier-than-expected opening follows high demand for the Neue Klasse platform already demonstrated by the iX3 SUV, which sold more than 10,000 units in April according to Electrek. Production remains scheduled to begin in August with no change, reports both Electrek and Autoblog.nl.
The same system adds approximately 423 km of range in 10 minutes.
The i3 50 xDrive uses two electric motors for all-wheel drive, producing 345 kW (469 hp) and 645 Nm of torque. BMW claims a 0-100 km/h time of 4.7 seconds.
Battery and efficiency deliver class-leading range. A 108.7 kWh battery formed from cylindrical cells powers the sedan. Combined with consumption of 13.4 kWh per 100 km including charging losses, the pack supports the 912 km WLTP range figure stated by BMW.

A US NACS port is also fitted.

Pricing starts at €75,340 for the First Edition in Germany. The standard 50 xDrive version with identical 912 km range is set at €65,900 when orders open in autumn. French prices are expected to land close to the German figures.

Mercedes electric C-Class already taking orders. The i3 enters a segment where Mercedes-Benz has been accepting orders for its electric C-Class equivalent since May, according to Autoblog.nl. BMW is also seeing strong interest in China for the Neue Klasse models.
