Elon Musk Visits Intel Oregon Fab This Week
Elon Musk visited Intel's Oregon fab this week and posed with CEO Lip-Bu Tan while holding a Tesla Optimus head. The trip follows Intel's partnership in Musk's Terafab project for advanced AI chip production.
The X account @muskonomy reported the visit with the post: "NEWS: Elon Musk visited Intel's advanced fab facility in Oregon this week. During the tour, Elon was photographed with Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan holding a Tesla Optimus robot head. Elon said he was honored to be shown the awesome Intel fab in Oregon this week."
Musk confirmed the details himself on X, posting a photo with Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan and stating it was an honor to see the fab while looking forward to a partnership involving SpaceX and Tesla. The Hillsboro site serves as Intel's largest manufacturing and R&D hub, employing more than 22,000 people and producing next-generation chips such as those on the 18A process node.
The tour comes two weeks after Musk announced plans to use Intel's 14A manufacturing technology for his Terafab project, an ambitious semiconductor facility aimed at delivering 1 terawatt per year of compute capacity for AI and robotics applications across Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI. Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan has publicly stated the company's commitment to joining the Terafab effort to refactor silicon fab technology.
Local reporting from OregonLive notes that Musk described the visit as occurring this week during a meeting with Tan, with the photo showing the pair alongside an Optimus robot component. Multiple outlets including Wccftech and The Times of India have covered the event as a signal of deepening ties between Intel and Musk's companies.
Intel has secured additional recent business, including reported work with Apple on next-generation chips, as the company advances its foundry operations.

Running it costs real money. APIs, hosting, time. To keep improving the site and growing this into something useful for everyone, those costs have to be covered.
