Fable Reveals Star-Studded Cast Led by Hayley Atwell

Fable reveals a new story trailer at the Xbox Games Showcase showing gameplay, battles, and swearing. Hayley Atwell voices villain Isabel while Lily Nichol and Ukweli Roach voice the player Hero, extending the series tradition of top British actors to support its player-driven narrative.

Fable revealed a new story trailer during the Xbox Games Showcase that showcases gameplay, characters, story elements beyond the player Hero, and action sequences including battles against a Balverine and a giant toad, along with plenty of swearing.

Hayley Atwell voices the game's main villain Isabel. Atwell is an award-winning British-American actor known for roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Peggy Carter, recent Mission: Impossible films, period dramas such as Howards End, The Duchess, and Pillars of the Earth, the Disney+ series Rivals, and stage productions including Much Ado About Nothing on the West End and Broadway. Fable Associate Narrative Director Craig Owens explained that Isabel is a driven, powerful Hero on a quest to right a tragic injustice, motivated by grief that has turned into determination and focus putting her at odds with the Hero of Briar Hill and her one-time guardian Humphry.
The character can be kind or cruel, generous or selfish, honourable or a complete arsehole depending on player choices, but always maintains a wry, composed nature amid Albion's mysteries, dangers, and eccentric people.

Owens added that Isabel's conviction she is doing the right thing and can fix any harm caused along the way makes her a powerful and dangerous enemy. He said Atwell's ability to combine vulnerability with strength made her the perfect fit, and that working with her was a pleasure. Her dedication to digging into the character and delivering the best performance in every scene, including performance capture and voice recording where her classical training shone, brought seriousness and grit that mirrors the role.

Lily Nichol and Ukweli Roach share duties voicing the player Hero of Briar Hill. Nichol is making her gaming debut after a decade on stage and screen, with TV credits including Sky Atlantic's I Hate Suzie, Netflix's Lockwood & Co., and Disney+'s Renegade Nell. Roach began on stage and has become a fixture on UK television with roles in the sci-fi series Humans, a comedic turn in Channel 4's Big Mood, and prior game appearances in Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Horizon Forbidden West.

Owens described the Hero as an ordinary person from the sleepy, forest-bounded village of Briar Hill made extraordinary by fate. The character can be kind or cruel, generous or selfish, honourable or a complete arsehole depending on player choices, but always maintains a wry, composed nature amid Albion's mysteries, dangers, and eccentric people. Both actors were chosen for their great range paired with natural charisma and for rising to every challenge to make the Hero feel part of Albion.
The cast draws on Fable's tradition of top British acting talent.

The cast draws on Fable's tradition of top British acting talent. The new trailer was anchored by an ominous speech from Isabel. The full cast list includes Hollywood stars and British comedy gems, continuing the series' history of blending high-caliber performers with the gaming world. Owens helped break down eleven major roles, highlighting why each actor was selected.
The trailer also gave a sense of the story beyond the Hero while demonstrating action and humor typical of the franchise. The game continues to emphasize player choice in shaping the Hero's personality and path. Further details on the remaining cast members were revealed alongside the trailer.
