Google updates vehicles with Google built-in to Gemini AI, replacing Google Assistant. General Motors rolls it out first to 4 million 2022+ cars including Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC. Gemini enables natural conversations, vehicle info retrieval like EV battery levels, settings adjustments, message summaries, and app integrations. This delivers ongoing improvements via software updates.

Google prepares to update vehicles with Google built-in to its Gemini AI assistant, replacing the current Google Assistant for a more conversational experience.

The upgrade enables natural conversations, vehicle-specific information retrieval, settings adjustments, and more, according to Google's announcement. "When cars with Google built-in first hit the road in 2020, we made a commitment that your car will get better over time," Google senior product manager Alankar Agnihotri said. "That means that Gemini is coming not only to new cars, but also to existing ones through a software update."

General Motors announced yesterday that Gemini arrives for 4 million model year 2022 and newer cars, including Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC vehicles. Google did not specify model support, suggesting the update extends beyond GM. Rollout begins with English in the US over coming months.

Gemini supports queries like nearby restaurant recommendations and playlist suggestions without rigid commands. It summarizes and responds to text messages, provides real-time journey updates, and answers car-specific questions, including EV battery levels.
Eligible users signed into their Google Account see the upgrade option in their car. Google plans expansions to more regions, languages, and app access like Gmail, Calendar, and Google Home.

CISA Warns Hackers Are Actively Exploiting Severe Ubiquiti Flaws

CISA placed three severe Ubiquiti UniFi OS vulnerabilities and one critical Lantronix command injection flaw into its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog on June 23, 2026, after confirming active attacks.
