Google has unveiled the list of Android smartphones compatible with AirDrop on iPhone following its announcement of Quick Share compatibility. The move will make it much simpler to share nearby files between an iPhone and an Android phone.

The details were announced on Tuesday, May 12, at Google's Android Show conference. The company had initially announced the supporting brands as Google, Samsung, OPPO, OnePlus, Vivo, Xiaomi and Honor.

In the first wave, the compatible smartphones are the Google Pixel 8a, Google Pixel 9, Google Pixel 9 Pro, Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, Google Pixel 10, Google Pixel 10 Pro, Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, Oppo Find N6, Oppo Find X9, Oppo Find X9 Pro, Oppo Find X9 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S26, Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra.

A second wave of smartphones will soon be able to benefit from the feature. These include the Honor Magic 8 Pro, Honor Magic V6, Samsung Galaxy S24, Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S25, Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, OnePlus 15, Oppo Find X8, Oppo Find X8 Pro and Oppo Find X8 Ultra.

The explanation for the list, according to 9to5Google, lies in the hardware requirements. To be compatible with AirDrop, smartphones must be equipped with a chip capable of supporting the Apple Wireless Direct Link protocol.

This requirement means the feature is not available for entry-level or mid-range devices. The compatibility is therefore limited to the specified models from the supported brands.
