Jagex Sets RuneScape Reignited Launch for December 2

Jagex will launch RuneScape Reignited on December 2. The refresh rebuilds the long-running free-to-play MMO with a focus on progression, challenge, community, and meaningful rewards.

Jagex announced the project at RuneFest 2026 Summit. The studio provided further details in a blog post published on October 3, 2026. The effort follows a similar approach to World of Warcraft Forever by targeting lapsed players.

The blog post addresses players who have felt lost or left behind as well as newcomers unsure where to start. Jagex described Reignited as both the culmination of work completed this year and the beginning of a new chapter.

Reignited uses a character-based system with a new economy. All players begin at level 3 together in a world without treasure hunters. The update rebuilds 25 years of RuneScape content for future play.

Existing players will see Reignited characters integrated into the same Gielinor world. The approach mirrors how Ironman characters currently coexist with standard accounts.

New and returning players receive ten days of free members content. Access begins immediately after the December 2 launch. Jagex stated the shared starting point allows the next chapter of RuneScape history to be written collectively.
