Microsoft raises Surface prices $500 amid RAM shortage
Microsoft has raised prices on its Surface Pro 11, Surface Laptop 7, and other models by up to $500 due to the global RAM shortage. The increases, reported by Windows Central, make Surface devices pricier than comparable Apple options and may extend to upcoming releases.

Last year, Microsoft discontinued the $999 configurations of these devices in favor of $1,199 models with more storage. The company appeared to be clearing space for cheaper options like the 12-inch Surface Pro, now up from $799 to $1,049, and the 13-inch Surface Laptop, rising from $899 to $1,199.
The 15-inch Surface Laptop starts at $1,599, an increase from its 2024 price of $1,299. Windows Central notes that a top-end 15-inch model with Snapdragon X Elite, 64GB RAM, and 1TB storage costs $3,649—hundreds more than a comparable 16-inch MacBook Pro.
These hikes intensify competition with Apple's $599 MacBook Neo, which outperforms rival Windows laptops. Microsoft could unveil new Surface devices this spring or summer, per Windows Central.

Running it costs real money. APIs, hosting, time. To keep improving the site and growing this into something useful for everyone, those costs have to be covered.
