Microsoft tests OpenClaw-like bots for 365 Copilot
Microsoft tests OpenClaw-like autonomous AI agents for 365 Copilot to run tasks around the clock. The move targets enterprise users with safer, role-specific bots amid competition from rivals like Anthropic.

Omar Shahine, Microsoft's corporate vice president, confirms to The Information that the company is "exploring the potential of technologies like OpenClaw in an enterprise context." OpenClaw is an open-source platform for creating AI-powered agents that run locally on a user's device; it gained popularity earlier this year amid serious security concerns.
Sources tell The Information that Microsoft plans safer implementations. The always-on Copilot would monitor a user's Outlook inbox and calendar to suggest daily tasks. Microsoft also explores role-tailored agents for marketing, sales, and accounting to restrict permissions and silo access within businesses.
Microsoft aims to demonstrate these features at its Build conference starting June 2nd.

The Circuitry is a passion project I've always wanted to build, and I love the work behind it.
Running it costs real money. APIs, hosting, time. To keep improving the site and growing this into something useful for everyone, those costs have to be covered.
Any contribution is appreciated. If not, no pressure. Thanks for reading.
EXPERT TAKE
Enterprise admins should monitor Build for permission controls that could mitigate security risks in autonomous M365 agents.
