Production partners attached to the project. Story Kitchen, the company behind the Sonic the Hedgehog film series for Sega, is teaming with 21 Laps, the studio founded by Shawn Levy. Levy produced Stranger Things along with Deadpool & Wolverine and Free Guy. "Variety" first reported the news, adding that Christopher Monfette will write the adaptation while also serving as executive producer and showrunner.

Monfette's prior credits span multiple genres. Monfette has written and produced episodes of Star Trek: Picard, Syfy’s 12 Monkeys, and Fox's 9-1-1. He is also attached to Marvel Television's upcoming VisionQuest series for Disney Plus.
