OpenAI Launches Personal Finance Preview for ChatGPT Pro Users
OpenAI has released a preview of a new personal finance experience in ChatGPT for Pro users in the U.S. that lets them connect financial accounts and get context-aware answers. The limited rollout lets the company learn from real-world use before wider expansion while keeping users in control of their data.

The company is limiting the release for now so it can learn from real-world use, improve the experience, and expand thoughtfully. OpenAI is catching up with some competitors by offering these new personal finance features inside ChatGPT. The new personal finance experience is rolling out starting today for some subscribers.

ChatGPT Pro subscribers with access can start by connecting a financial account to the app. To get started, users open Finances from the sidebar in ChatGPT and select ‘Get started’ or start a conversation from anywhere in ChatGPT by saying ‘@Finances, connect my accounts’. ChatGPT will then guide them through securely linking accounts through Plaid, with Intuit support coming soon.
After users authenticate, ChatGPT will begin syncing and categorizing their data, which may take a few minutes. The personal finance dashboard can show up-to-date data around spending, subscriptions, upcoming payments, and portfolio performance. Users can also provide important context to ChatGPT, like financial goals to keep in mind.
Financial data can be removed at any time. OpenAI also provides controls for removing personal finance information from ChatGPT's memory feature. The company says private chats in ChatGPT will not use personal finance data. This preview for Pro users allows them to securely connect financial accounts, see where their money is going, and ask questions based on the information they choose to connect, bringing their full financial picture into ChatGPT.
