Apple Announces tvOS 27 With Redesigned Podcasts App

Apple announced tvOS 27 during its WWDC 2026 keynote on Monday. The update received only brief mention in a slide but brings several new features and enhancements to the Apple TV.

tvOS 27 introduces a redesigned Podcasts app. The update also delivers smoother app launches and animations. Faster AirPlay connectivity with other Apple devices is included as well.

Smart downloads are part of the package. A new Larger Text accessibility option appears in the Settings app and increases the size of text across the entire tvOS interface. AppleCare coverage details are now viewable directly in the Settings app.

Apple has not published a dedicated preview page for tvOS 27. Unlike the pages created for iOS 27 and other new software updates, no further details on these features are available from the company right now. The "what's new in tvOS" page on Apple's developer website also remains unchanged.

The first tvOS 27 developer beta became available on Monday. A public beta is scheduled to follow in July. The final update is expected to ship later this year, likely in September.
