Apple Schedules iOS 27 Release for September 14 With Delayed Siri AI

Apple plans to roll out iOS 27 on Monday, September 14. The centerpiece of the update is Siri AI, a long-delayed artificial intelligence overhaul of the voice assistant that was postponed from its original timeline.

Siri AI debuts in beta with English-only support. The new version arrives as a beta feature in iOS 27 and will be limited at first to English-only devices. Apple says support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish is coming in October.

Siri AI represents the major upgrade that had been previewed in earlier briefings before being held back. It takes top billing in the software package set to reach compatible devices in five days.

Liquid Glass gains an opacity slider for UI customization. The company is introducing a Liquid Glass opacity slider that reportedly lets owners choose between a clearer interface or a more frosty appearance. This adjustment hands users greater influence over the look of on-screen system elements.

Built-in apps receive refreshed icons and extra large widgets arrive. Numerous first-party applications will feature updated icon designs that include subtle shifts in color. The release also brings extra large widgets along with an option to shrink the displayed time significantly on the Lock Screen.

Audio controls expand with separate volume settings. Apple is adding independent volume controls for ringtones, alarms, timers, alerts, and system sounds. These options sit alongside the visual and interface refinements arriving on September 14.

The software package was unveiled at Apple’s ‘Surprise and shine’ event held on September 9, 2026.
