Apple unveiled the new iPad mini on Oct 26 with an 8.5-inch OLED display and the A20 Pro chip. It starts at $699, with pre-orders opening Oct 28 and availability on Nov 6.

Apple unveiled the new iPad mini on Oct. 26, with an 8.5-inch OLED display, the A20 Pro chip and an IP67 rating. Apple says it is the biggest update ever for the iPad mini.

What's new

The OLED display fits the same footprint as the previous mini thanks to 24 percent thinner bezels, and a nano-texture option is available. The body is 5.4 mm thin, with an IP67 rating to protect against water and dust. A 12MP Center Stage front camera sits on the landscape edge. The N1 networking chip brings Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, and the tablet runs iPadOS 27.

Dave Pakula, Apple's vice president of Hardware Engineering, said: "With a remarkably thinner and lighter design, a stunning new OLED display, the incredibly powerful A20 Pro, and water and dust resistance, the new iPad mini is a huge leap forward for users who love having the full iPad experience in the palm of their hand."

Microsoft offers voluntary exit to about 60,000 employees

Microsoft on Monday announced a new Voluntary Exit Offer for eligible employees in participating teams in the US, Canada, India and the UK at level 70 and below. Some groups, including sales, aren't participating, and Microsoft says the offer doesn't replace layoffs.
