CD Projekt Red confirms new Witcher 3 DLC titled Songs of the Past for 2027. Co-developed with Fools Theory, the content targets PC, PS5, and Xbox Series systems. It arrives after rumors ahead of Blood and Wine's tenth anniversary. CDPR doubles RAM and triples VRAM requirements on PC.

CD Projekt Red has confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is receiving brand new DLC more than ten years after its original release. Titled Songs of the Past, the expansion is scheduled to arrive in 2027.

The new content is being co-developed by CDPR and Fools Theory. It will launch on PC, Xbox Series and PS5 consoles. Notably, it will not be available on the Xbox One or PS4, the platforms on which the game originally launched.
Notably, it will not be available on the Xbox One or PS4, the platforms on which the game originally launched.

The announcement was made on The Witcher official X account on May 27, 2026. The post stated, "Medallions humming that can only mean one thing! Its time to announce The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Songs of the Past!" It added that "This brand new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will take you to the Path with Geralt of Rivia once more. It’s being co-developed with @Fools_Theory."

The news follows the announcement of a special ten-year anniversary stream for the Blood and Wine DLC, which was released on May 31, 2016. Rumors of new content had been circulating ahead of that stream, which remains one day away from the confirmation.

Fools Theory is a Polish developer that released the story-driven RPG The Thaumaturge in 2024. That title received fair to middling reviews from critics but proved popular with players on Steam. The studio is already working with CDPR on the remake of the original The Witcher, which was announced in 2022.

To support the new content, CDPR is updating the PC system requirements. The new specifications are: CPU AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5-8400; GPU NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB; 6 GB VRAM; 12 GB RAM; 70 GB SSD storage; and 64-bit Windows 11. The developer noted it is no longer supporting HDD installs and will not test on Windows 10 because the OS is no longer officially supported by Microsoft.
CDPR stated that owners of older rigs that could barely run the game 12 years ago will likely need to upgrade.

These changes represent a doubling of RAM requirements from the original version and a tripling of VRAM demands. CDPR stated that owners of older rigs that could barely run the game 12 years ago will likely need to upgrade. The studio has not said whether these improvements will apply to the base game or provided details on the expansion's story content.
