A new standalone story is in production. The sequel was announced in July 2025 as a 10-episode series set in the universe of CD Projekt’s Cyberpunk 2077. It features an entirely new cast of characters and focuses on themes of redemption and revenge.

Netflix describes the show as “a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge” and poses the question: “When the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?” The teaser is expected to introduce the new crew.

Key creative staff from season one are returning. Studio Trigger will once again handle animation, having previously produced the first season along with titles such as Kill La Kill. Kai Ikarashi steps up from animation director to full director, succeeding studio founder Hiroyuki Imaishi.

Writers Bartosz Sztybor and Masahiko Otsuka are back, while Ichigo Kanno assumes the role of lead character designer. The source material does not specify additional crew changes or a release window beyond the upcoming teaser.
