Foldable iPhone to Solve Screen, Durability Issues

Apple reportedly plans a foldable iPhone launch in September with improved screen quality and durability. Engineers reduce the screen crease visibility without fully eliminating it and enhance overall build compared to rivals. The book-style device features a 7.7-inch inner screen, 5.3-inch outer display, two rear cameras, one front camera, and Touch ID power button. This addresses foldables' main flaws.

Apple reportedly plans to unveil a foldable iPhone in September that solves two key problems with foldable smartphones: screen quality and overall durability.

A leaker on Chinese social media platform Weibo claimed the device will be named iPhone Ultra.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman states the foldable iPhone will have improved screen quality and overall durability compared to competing foldables. "Apple engineers believe they've solved problems with screen quality and overall durability, two long-running flaws with phones in this category," he said. Specifically, the crease in the screen will be "less visible when it's unfolded" compared to some other foldables.

Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the foldable iPhone would have a virtually "crease-free" inner display, but Gurman later reported that Apple is using technology that "reduces the crease without eliminating it entirely."
The device is expected to open like a book with a 7.7-inch inner screen and a 5.3-inch outer display. It is also rumored to feature two rear cameras, one front camera, and a Touch ID power button instead of Face ID.
