Dave Wehner, Meta's chief strategy officer, has said he is leaving to become chief financial officer of Fireworks. He announced the move on Friday.
Fireworks has the right mission for the moment.
Wehner said the startup fits the moment. "Fireworks has the right mission for the moment," he wrote, adding, "I've become increasingly bullish on what they are building. There's a remarkable depth of technical talent here, coupled with a very practical focus on what customers need."

Fireworks builds tools for open models. The company, founded in 2022 by former Meta and Google employees, lets developers customize and run open models. A July Series D valued it at $17.5 billion. That round was led by Atreides Management, Index Ventures, and TCV. Nvidia and Sequoia Capital are also backers. Fireworks chief executive Lin Qiao said Wehner will scale the company's finances and operations.
Dave helped guide Meta through tremendous growth and complexity over 14 years, and brought disciplined thinking to some of our hardest company-level decisions.
Meta thanked him for 14 years. Wehner joined the company, then called Facebook, in 2012 and was chief financial officer from 2014 to 2022. Chief operating officer Javier Olivan said, "Dave helped guide Meta through tremendous growth and complexity over 14 years, and brought disciplined thinking to some of our hardest company-level decisions."

The Circuitry is a passion project I've always wanted to build, and I love the work behind it.

Running it costs real money. APIs, hosting, time. To keep improving the site and growing this into something useful for everyone, those costs have to be covered.

Any contribution is appreciated. If not, no pressure. Thanks for reading.
