Firefly Studios builds the most ambitious entry yet in Unreal Engine 5. Castle design and construction interconnect closely with economic systems and supply chains to create a deep castle simulator. The game includes weather effects, day-night cycles, and changing terrain according to the developer.
A narrative campaign returns with series humor and new cinematics. The full campaign features returning fan-favorite characters. Players who prefer building and combat can access multiplayer for up to eight players and co-op skirmish missions.

The series has a mixed history after 25 years. The first Stronghold released in 2001. Stronghold: Warlords received a mixed review in 2021 that described castle sieges as excellent but much of the rest as too thin, while the 2023 Definitive Edition remake of the original holds a very positive rating across nearly 9,500 user reviews on Steam.
A demo arrives on Steam next month ahead of the full launch. Stronghold 4 is expected to launch later in 2026. The demo becomes available on June 23.
