Nintendo sold 6.49 million Switch 2 consoles in the first half of FY27, down 37.4% from 10.36 million a year earlier. Lifetime Switch 2 hardware sell-in has reached 26.35 million units.

Hardware sales declined in the six months from April 1 to September 30, 2026. Original Nintendo Switch hardware sales fell 32.7% to 1.27 million units from 1.89 million. The July-to-September quarter added 2.67 million Switch 2 consoles, while the original Switch reached 157.20 million lifetime units.

Software sales grew across both console families. Switch 2 software sell-in increased 18.8% to 24.49 million units from 20.62 million, while original Switch software rose 6.8% to 65.73 million units from 61.56 million. Nintendo said new titles encouraged consumers to keep adopting Switch 2 despite the year-over-year hardware decline.

Lower hardware volume reduced dedicated-platform revenue. Dedicated video game platform sales fell 15.3% to 903.3 billion yen, which Nintendo attributed primarily to lower hardware unit sales. Total net sales fell 12.1% to 966.0 billion yen, while operating profit increased 49.1% to 216.5 billion yen. Nintendo credited steady software sales and a first-quarter refund of U.S. IEEPA tariffs for the profit increase. Digital sales rose 60.5% to 249.6 billion yen. IP-related income increased 87.9% to 62.7 billion yen, partly due to growth in movie and video income related to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
