Tesla says Robotaxi has driven 3.3M+ miles with no safety monitor and zero Tesla-reported injuries, airbag deployments or pedestrian and cyclist strikes, per its NHTSA filings. It estimates human drivers would have caused about 9.1 injury crashes over the same Texas miles. Las Vegas, Jacksonville, Phoenix and San Antonio are listed as coming soon.

Tesla on Wednesday published a Robotaxi Safety Report page saying its driverless fleet has gone more than 3.3 million autonomous miles with no one injured in collisions where Robotaxi made first contact and none of its own airbags deployed, by Tesla's count, and no pedestrians or cyclists hit. The page also lists Las Vegas, Jacksonville, Phoenix and San Antonio as Robotaxi cities coming soon.

Tesla says the figures cover only rides with no safety monitor on board.

According to Tesla, the report counts every collision it filed with NHTSA under the agency's Standing General Order while Robotaxi was driving with no safety monitor in the vehicle, from Jan. 22 to Oct. 18, 2026, including times when a remote operator was assisting or had taken control. Tesla said it excludes earlier miles driven with a safety monitor. The 3.3 million figure is a live estimate based on the fleet's current pace; Tesla puts the audited total at 3.1 million miles as of Oct. 18.

Tesla compares the results with Texas human-driver data.

Tesla said Robotaxi drove 2.95 million miles in Austin, Dallas and Houston during the period, about 95% of its total. Using 2024 Texas police crash data, the company estimates human drivers covering the same miles would have caused about 9.1 injury collisions, 4.1 collisions with airbag deployments and 0.52 collisions with pedestrians or cyclists. Tesla noted that police reports do not record which vehicle made first contact, so the human figures count every such collision.

Tesla also described two incidents it did not count as injuries: an SUV that was pushed into a waiting Robotaxi by another vehicle, injuring an occupant of that other vehicle, and a rider injury claim after a Robotaxi hit a pothole that Tesla said its investigation did not support.

Austin accounts for most of the fleet's miles.

By Tesla's count, Austin leads with 2,118,015 autonomous miles, followed by Dallas at 608,130, Houston at 225,964, Orlando at 61,053, Tampa at 53,117 and Miami at 46,262. Tesla said the fleet logged about 862,000 miles after dark, 113,000 in rain and 575,000 during rush hour.
