Tesla Updates China Manuals for FSD v14 as Assisted Driving
Tesla has updated the owner's manuals for the Model 3 and Model Y in China to include references to Full Self-Driving version 14. The changes indicate that the software will launch in the country under the name Tesla Assisted Driving, or TAD. This branding replaces the Full Self-Driving label used elsewhere and follows an earlier local name of Urban Road Autopilot Assistance from the initial rollout.

The manuals describe new speed profile options available with the version. Drivers can select Standard, Hurry, Mad Max, or Sloth modes. Sloth mode keeps the vehicle slightly below the speed limit for a more cautious ride and was first added in FSD v14.1.

FSD v14 runs on a one-billion-parameter model. Tesla has delayed a ten-billion-parameter upgrade to version 15. In v14.3.2, the company unified AI models across FSD, Actually Smart Summon, and the Robotaxi platform. Elon Musk has stated that FSD v14 is already much safer than a human driver.

Tesla launched FSD v13 briefly to a small group of Hardware 4 owners in China. Local data regulations have limited wider deployment. The company opened a dedicated AI training center earlier this year to process Chinese driving data inside the country.
Tesla is also developing FSD v14 Lite for Hardware 3 vehicles, with plans to expand it internationally later this summer. The manual updates position TAD as the version that could meet regulatory requirements for broader use in Chinese cities.
