TypeSafe AI raised $870 million at a $7.5 billion valuation in a Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz, with Sequoia and DCVC participating, weeks after Jev's September 15 launch and a $40 million seed round. Jev outputs probabilities rather than text. TypeSafe says a third of the Fortune 500 use it; a16z says it generated 1 trillion tokens in three days.

TypeSafe AI has raised $870 million at a $7.5 billion valuation in a Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Sequoia Capital, existing investor DCVC and a group of angel investors, the company said on October 9. Martin Casado of Andreessen Horowitz is joining its board.
TypeSafe says a third of the Fortune 500 are using Jev and that it has saved customers millions of dollars in production.
Weeks after launch. The round comes less than a month after TypeSafe released Jev on September 15 and left stealth with a $40 million seed round led by DCVC, which priced the company at about $200 million post-money, according to reports on that round. Jev went viral almost immediately after release, TechCrunch reported.

What Jev is. Jev is built on a transformer architecture but is not a large language model. Instead of text it outputs probabilities, which TypeSafe calls "calibrated decisions," and the company says it is faster and uses far fewer tokens than LLMs for automation tasks.

Adoption claims. TypeSafe says a third of the Fortune 500 are using Jev and that it has saved customers millions of dollars in production. Andreessen Horowitz says Jev generated 1 trillion tokens in its first three days and puts enterprise adoption at 25% of the Fortune 500.

What the money is for. TypeSafe says it will add more machine-native models, build out infrastructure for developers and add enterprise features customers have asked for. The company was co-founded in 2024 by CEO Diogo Almeida, a former OpenAI researcher, former Meta research engineer Sasha Sheng and engineer Erik Gafni.
