Xiaomi has officially confirmed Sky Nomad as the name of its new extended-range electric vehicle effort.

Xiaomi confirms the Sky Nomad brand after months of rumors. The company made the announcement on its official Weibo account on Wednesday with a teaser poster. Xiaomi EV posted "SkyNomad. Sky, nomad. A new name about space and life, saying hello to everyone first."
The announcement places Xiaomi on a collision course with the two companies that dominate China's lucrative family SUV segment.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun shared the poster on the platform. When asked about launch timing he told followers it is "coming soon," according to Sina.

The first Sky Nomad model targets the family SUV segment. It is a full-size SUV expected to deliver over 1,500 km of combined range. The figure equals 932 miles.

The brand will operate under a local Chinese name. In China it will reportedly go by Xiaomi Pengcheng. The company has already registered accounts under that name on WeChat, Bilibili and other platforms.
Xiaomi has been filing "SkyNomad" trademarks since August 2025, according to CnEVPost. The dual naming reflects both global branding and local market strategy. The first model remains on track for an imminent debut.
