Arm said it and STMicroelectronics are shaping the next Cortex-M roadmap for machines that sense and move. The November 5 post names no new chip, price, or ship date.

Arm said its long partnership with STMicroelectronics is helping shape the next generation of the Cortex-M roadmap for machines that sense, decide, and move. The November 5 post names no new chip, no price, and no ship date.
The November 5 post names no new chip, no price, and no ship date.
The target is robots, factories, and vehicles. Arm said these systems have to perceive surroundings, plan a response, and move, inside limits on power, weight, heat, and cost. It described three computing layers. One reads the environment for navigation and obstacle avoidance. One takes human instructions by voice or gesture. One runs motors and joints in real time. A separate cloud layer handles fleet management, simulation, and training.

The current chips are already named. Arm pointed to Cortex-M55 and Cortex-M85 for signal processing and machine learning in microcontroller-class parts. It also pointed to Arm Zena compute subsystems for the perception and interaction layers. Those are existing products. The post does not say a successor has taped out or when ST will ship a part based on the next roadmap.

The market figure is Arm's own estimate. Arm said getting physical AI right unlocks industries that, on its estimate, are a $200 billion annual compute opportunity into the 2030s. That is not a booked order or a forecast from ST. The post does not give a contract value for the collaboration.

The work is a roadmap, not a launch. Arm said the collaboration combines its processor architecture and software with ST's embedded-application work, and aims to put more intelligence next to sensors and actuators. It said safety and security have to sit under every layer. It did not name a customer, a factory, or a first product.

The Circuitry is a passion project I've always wanted to build, and I love the work behind it.

Running it costs real money. APIs, hosting, time. To keep improving the site and growing this into something useful for everyone, those costs have to be covered.

Any contribution is appreciated. If not, no pressure. Thanks for reading.
