Best Buy has informed affiliates that a pre-order campaign for physical copies of Grand Theft Auto 6 will run from May 18 to 21. Affiliates are eligible to receive 5% for each sale linked through the program. The email was first revealed by YouTuber Frogboyx1Gaming during a livestream when he checked his phone. Other Best Buy affiliates have confirmed receiving the same email.

This development has led to speculation that a new trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 may be released to coincide with pre-orders starting. The timing aligns with Take-Two Interactive's upcoming Q4 2026 earnings conference call scheduled for May 21. Releasing a trailer before the call could let the company re-confirm the game's currently planned November 19 release date.

Such a move would allow Take-Two to reference the trailer during its results presentation and its forecast for Financial Year 2027. It would also eliminate the need for investors to ask questions about the game's status during the Q&A portion of the presentation. Frogboyx1Gaming posted on Twitter: "Looks Like GTA 6 Preorders are coming very Soon!!!!!!" alongside an attached image.

Last week a Bank of America analyst suggested that Rockstar should raise the price of Grand Theft Auto 6 to $80 for the benefit of the entire games industry. Securities stock analyst Omar Dessouky argues that selling the sequel at the standard $70 price point could negatively impact other games looking to raise prices amid swelling development costs.

Last year, analyst Matthew Ball of Epyllion claimed there was “hope” among figures in the games industry that GTA 6 could cost up to $100. The goal would be to enable other companies to increase their default prices in response to global inflation and rising triple-A development expenses.
