Forza Horizon 6 PS5 Release Set for Later in 2026

Microsoft has confirmed Forza Horizon 6 will release on PS5 later in 2026 after launching first on Xbox and PC. The staggered timing reflects the company's inconsistent approach to multiplatform releases, following both day-and-date launches for other titles and the prior success of Forza Horizon 5 on PlayStation.

Forza Horizon 6 PS5 Release Set for Later in 2026

Forza Horizon 6 launches May 15 for premium users and May 19 generally on Xbox Series X|S and PC. Microsoft confirms PS5 release later in 2026, announced at January's Xbox Developer Direct. PS5 owners wait at most 230 days. This reflects Microsoft's varying multiplatform strategy, shorter than Forza Horizon 5's delay yet unlike day-and-date for Gears and Fable.

Forza Horizon 6 launches over the next week on Xbox Series X|S and PC, but the game is also headed to PlayStation 5 just not right away. Microsoft and developer Playground have not confirmed a specific release date for the PS5 edition, but the company has provided a window for when fans can expect it.

As announced during the Xbox Developer Direct event in January this year, Forza Horizon 6 is coming to PlayStation 5 "later in 2026." That provides at least confirmation that the racing game will head to Sony's console this year.

This means PS5 players will have to wait 230 days at the very most to play Forza Horizon 6 after it launches on PC and Xbox. That is from May 15 to December 31. No one would expect the PS5 edition to launch on the last day of the year, so the wait will surely be shorter than that.

Microsoft has not explained why specifically it is staggering the console releases for Forza Horizon 6. The company does not have a one-size-fits-all approach to multiplatform releases.

Gears of War Reloaded from 2025 brought the series to PlayStation for the first time and launched day-and-date across all platforms. All versions of the upcoming Fable reboot, also developed by Playground, are set for release this fall.

Forza Horizon 5 launched in November 2021 for Xbox and PC before coming to PS5 in April 2025. That wait was much longer because Microsoft did not announce its updated multiplatform strategy until early 2024. When Forza Horizon 5 eventually came to PS5, it was a smash hit, generating a reported $300 million on Sony's platform.
Forza Horizon 6 launches on May 15 for people who pay a premium and May 19 for everyone else.
