Microsoft unveils Surface Pro 12-inch and Laptop 13-inch with Snapdragon X2 Plus

Microsoft introduced the next Surface Pro 12-inch and Surface Laptop 13-inch, built on the Snapdragon X2 Plus processor, at the Snapdragon Summit on September 23, 2026.

New devices deliver efficiency and speed gains. The models offer up to 18% more efficient battery performance, over 60% faster graphics, and 95% faster on-device AI compared to prior generations while retaining the same lightweight design. They also provide up to 17% faster performance in Office productivity workloads.

Surface Pro 12-inch adds portability and new tools. The fanless device supports quick shifts between tablet and laptop modes with an attachable keyboard and magnetically stored Slim Pen. It features a 25% brighter 500-nit PixelSense touchscreen, an enclosure made with 86% recycled content, and starts at $1149.99 MSRP with availability from October 13 in select markets.

Ink Canvas brings AI to pen input. The new Microsoft Ink Canvas experience allows sketching, annotating, generating images, and summarizing text directly on the canvas using the Slim Pen. It ships pre-installed on the Surface Pro 12-inch and becomes available for download on other supported devices starting October 13.

Surface Laptop 13-inch emphasizes sustained use. The thin, light, fanless model targets users who need reliable performance across extended sessions such as managing multiple tabs, running calls, and rendering tasks without increased heat or noise.

Additional accessory announced. A new Surface Mouse with integrated haptic feedback was introduced alongside the two PCs.
