Orbitals launches September 3 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2. Shapefarm revealed the date in Nintendo Direct for the co-op game with 80s anime style, tandem levels, and rhythm minigames shaped by Hazelight's design. It supports local play via GameShare across Switch models. This sets a firm date for fans of chaotic co-op adventures.

Indie developer Shapefarm revealed a release date for its co-op game Orbitals during Tuesday's Nintendo Direct presentation. The '80s anime-inspired title will launch on Sept. 3 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Orbitals draws from Hazelight co-op design. The game tasks two players with working in tandem to progress through levels and complete rhythm minigames as space explorers navigating a cosmic storm to save their space station home. Director Jakob Lundgren told Polygon that his prior work at Hazelight on titles such as It Takes Two and Split Fiction shaped the project's co-op philosophies while aiming for a distinct identity.

Orbitals builds on prior reveals. The game first appeared at The Game Awards last year. It returned during February's Nintendo Switch 2 Partner Showcase without a release date until the latest Nintendo Direct.
