Sony Keeps Single-Player PlayStation Games Console Exclusive
Sony will no longer launch single-player PlayStation games on PC after CEO Hermen Hulst confirmed the shift in a town hall, building on a March Bloomberg report. The change aims to restore console exclusivity amid low PC sales and risks of brand dilution for first-party titles.

The additional information stems from a town hall where Hermen Hulst, CEO, confirmed the new direction to PlayStation employees. The slate of narrative, single-player games headed to PlayStation will launch only on PlayStation and won't be ported to PC later.
In March, Bloomberg reported that PlayStation was planning to pull back on publishing first-party, single-player games on PC. That report attributed the plan to low sales on PC along with an ongoing inherent risk of damaging the brand.
The March reporting also pointed to concerns around diluting PlayStation. It highlighted the risk of allowing users to experience the label's first-party titles away from a PlayStation console.
This latest confirmation from Hulst in the town hall solidifies the strategy. Schreier provided the update on the CEO's statements, building directly on the earlier Bloomberg coverage from March. As a result, single-player PlayStation games are set to remain exclusive to the console platform while multiplayer offerings continue to reach both console and PC audiences.
