The Witcher 3 Reaches 65 Million Copies Sold

CD Projekt Red disclosed during its latest earnings presentation that its flagship open-world RPG has sold 65 million copies worldwide. Released 11 years ago, the title has returned to the spotlight following recent expansion announcements.

"Songs of the Past" is scheduled to launch in 2027 and is expected to generate additional sales momentum for the long-running franchise.

Top 10 Status Confirmed

According to the CD Projekt Group earnings report, the game has now crossed the 65 million mark, securing its place among the 10 best-selling video games in history. The figure represents a 5 million copy increase from the 60 million total reported one year earlier.

Sales are reportedly set to climb further with the arrival of the third expansion in 2027.

Financial Performance

The group posted revenue of 191 million PLN for the first quarter of 2026, marking a 6% rise year-on-year. Its CFO noted "a solid revenue stream in the first 3 months of the year, most of which came from Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3," boosted by their inclusion on Xbox Game Pass Premium and Ultimate tiers.

The developer also expanded its workforce by 42 people across multiple projects between February and April 2026. Updated minimum PC specifications will accompany the upcoming expansion, while one analyst has projected that development of the next mainline entry could cost nearly $800 million.
