Xbox Employees to Get @xbox.com Emails Next Month
All Xbox employees will switch to @xbox.com email addresses next month as the default. The move bolsters the Xbox brand identity after ditching the Microsoft Gaming name.

The new address replaces the existing @microsoft.com as the default for sending new emails. Employees can opt out and retain their Microsoft address. Mojang employees receive @mojang.com emails, while both groups keep @microsoft.com aliases.
An internal Xbox memo, seen by The Verge, describes the shift as "strengthening the Xbox identity inside and outside of Microsoft." The change aligns Xbox emails with those at Activision and Bethesda.
Previously, some Xbox staff requested @xbox.com addresses from IT. This marks the first time Microsoft actively assigns them to all gaming employees, as part of the renewed "We are Xbox" effort outlined in a memo from Sharma and Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty.

Running it costs real money. APIs, hosting, time. To keep improving the site and growing this into something useful for everyone, those costs have to be covered.
