Microsoft cuts Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to $22.99 from $29.99 and PC Game Pass to $13.99 from $16.49. Future Call of Duty games skip day-one releases on Game Pass and arrive about a year later. The changes address feedback that the service was too expensive after price hikes caused subscription cancellations.

Microsoft lowers the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to $22.99 from $29.99, effective today, following a leaked memo from Xbox CEO Asha Sharma. The PC version of Game Pass drops to $13.99 from $16.49. Everything currently included in either tier remains available after the change.

Future Call of Duty games, including this year's unannounced entry, skip day-one releases on Game Pass. They arrive the following holiday season, about a year after launch. Existing Call of Duty titles stay on the service. Only two prior games launched day-one: 2024's Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and last year's Black Ops 7.

Sharma's memo labeled Game Pass "too expensive" and called for a better value balance. In an Xbox Wire post, she stated: "Our players cover a wide breadth of geographies, preferences, and tastes, so while there isn’t a single model that’s best for everyone, this change responds to a lot of feedback we’ve gotten so far. We'll continue to listen and learn."
The cuts follow a controversial price hike six months ago that drove subscription cancellations, despite added perks like Fortnite Crew and Ubisoft Classics. Game Pass also saw a 2024 increase.

GameStop CEO Forgoes $35B Bonus to Pursue eBay Takeover

GameStop has withdrawn Ryan Cohen's potential $35 billion performance bonus so the CEO can concentrate on acquiring eBay. The decision follows eBay's swift rejection of a $55 billion bid in May and precedes the planned release of additional strategic materials this week.

GTA 6 to use PS5 DualSense features, confirmed PS5 Pro enhanced

Sony and Rockstar Games have detailed several PS5 hardware features that Grand Theft Auto 6 will use exclusively, while confirming the title is PS5 Pro Enhanced without revealing specifics. The announcement doubles as a marketing drive to convert lingering PS4 owners to PlayStation 5 ahead of the game's release.

Valve Opens SteamOS 3.8 to All PC Hardware

Valve has released SteamOS 3.8, enabling anyone to install the operating system on custom PC hardware to create their own Steam Machine. The update expands compatibility beyond AMD-only setups and brings the console-like experience to desktop builds, though Nvidia support remains in development.
