Assassin’s Creed adds three new games to pipeline

Ubisoft is developing three new Assassin’s Creed titles—Codename Hexe, Jade, and Invictus—each with distinct approaches ranging from narrative-driven single-player to mobile open-world and PvP multiplayer. The projects arrive as the long-running series heads toward its 20th anniversary with no signs of slowing down.

Ubisoft develops three new Assassin’s Creed games. Codename Hexe targets a darker narrative on witch hunts in 16th-century Europe. Jade delivers console-style gameplay on mobile in ancient China. Invictus adds dedicated PvP multiplayer. These projects expand the series as it nears its 20th anniversary in 2027.

Ubisoft has three brand-new Assassin’s Creed games in development as the series approaches its 20th anniversary in 2027. The projects join previously reported entries including Black Flag Resynced and Mirage and Shadows.

Codename Hexe targets a darker narrative experience. Ubisoft first revealed Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe in 2022. In a March 2026 update, franchise head of content Jean Guesdon described it as “a unique, darker, narrative-driven Assassin’s Creed experience, set during a pivotal moment in history.”

The game is expected to be set in 16th-century Europe with a focus on witch hunts, based on its announcement trailer and pre-reveal reports. Recent leaks claim magical abilities have been removed, though such reports should be taken with caution. Hexe has also undergone several leadership and rumored team-wide reshuffles in 2026, which may have altered its direction from the 2022 reveal.

Jade brings the series to mobile with full console-style gameplay. Assassin’s Creed Jade was also first shown in September 2022 and targets Android and iOS platforms. Gameplay footage shared at Gamescom 2023 demonstrated parkour and combat mechanics typical of open-world Assassin’s Creed titles, despite its mobile design.

The game is set in Qin Dynasty China in 215 BC. Players will parkour across the Great Wall and explore ancient Chinese cities as a fully customizable assassin, a first for the series. Closed betas have taken place, but no full release date has been announced.

Invictus introduces dedicated PvP multiplayer. Assassin’s Creed Invictus remains unseen, with no footage or detailed setting revealed so far. Guesdon’s March 2026 update described it as “a PvP multiplayer Assassin’s Creed experience led by a dedicated team of For Honor veterans at Ubisoft Montreal.”

Leaks had suggested a “Fall Guys version of Assassin’s Creed” with “Fortnite-style graphics,” but Guesdon stated that Invictus “isn’t quite what the rumors have suggested.” The series previously experimented with multiplayer through PvP modes in titles such as Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Black Flag, and co-op missions in Unity.

Remakes remain part of Ubisoft’s plans. In a 2024 interview on Ubisoft’s website, CEO Yves Guillemot said players can be excited about remakes that revisit and modernize past games. Black Flag Resynced, reported as a remake of the 2013 title Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, has reportedly earned a 93 percent Critics Recommend score on OpenCritic.
Polygon’s review was more measured, stating the remake “might not be dead in the water, but it isn’t going anywhere, either.” Additional remakes are expected though none beyond Black Flag Resynced have been detailed. Release windows for Hexe, Jade, and Invictus all remain TBA.
