Eka Robotics announced a $150 million Series A on Oct. 20, led by Andreessen Horowitz and F-Prime, a fund affiliated with Fidelity's parent FMR.

Seed investors returned alongside new backers.

Obvious Ventures and E14 Fund, which co-led the seed round, participated, along with MFV Partners, Bison Ventures, Glasswing Ventures, Samsung Next and several Fortune 500 strategic investors. The valuation of $1.45 billion was reported by TechCrunch and SiliconANGLE.

Eka's model uses force sensing as well as vision.

The company calls its system a vision-force-action model: force sensors in a custom gripper tell the model how firmly it is holding an object so it can adjust mid-task. Eka says its robots run about 1,500 pick operations per hour, against a human baseline of about 600.

The funding will expand the model to more tasks and speed deployments.
