Microsoft Launches Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition With Discord
TL;DRAI · 60 sec read

Microsoft and Discord launch Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition for Nitro members at no extra cost. It provides 50+ console and PC games like Fallout 4 and Stardew Valley, plus 10 hours of monthly cloud gaming. Eligible users gain Discord perks including Orbs and shop discounts. This adds flexibility to Game Pass for both communities.

Confirming earlier rumors and reports, Microsoft and Discord announced a new partnership that includes a new version of Xbox Game Pass called the Starter Edition. This marks yet another version of Xbox Game Pass that has been confirmed.

The Starter Edition of Game Pass is available to Discord Nitro members. It comes with a library of 50+ console and PC games. Additionally, the Game Pass Starter Edition includes 10 hours of cloud gaming access per month.

Notably, Discord Nitro is staying the same price. The subscription service is priced at $10 per month or $100 per year. This means members can access the new Game Pass benefits without any increase in their Discord subscription cost.

Some of the games included with the Game Pass Starter Edition include Fallout 4, Stardew Valley, DayZ, Deep Rock Galactic, Grounded, and Overcooked 2. These games are now accessible as part of the Starter Edition offering for qualifying users.

Microsoft provided a statement regarding the new partnership. "We're teaming up again as we continue to make Game Pass more flexible for players, bringing new benefits to both Xbox Game Pass and Discord communities," Microsoft said. This highlights the companies' ongoing efforts to enhance their services for their respective communities.

The companies have a history of working together. Prior to this announcement, Xbox and Discord already worked together to give Game Pass Ultimate members 1 month of Discord Nitro for free. This previous collaboration laid the groundwork for the current partnership.

Later this month, eligible members will also get select Discord Nitro perks. The perks include 250 Discord Orbs each month. They also feature 1.2x extra Orbs when completing Quests. Finally, there are automatically applied Discord Shop discounts.

The announcement also touches on recent changes to Game Pass Ultimate. Game Pass Ultimate recently got a huge price drop, falling from $30 per month to $23 per month. At the same time, Microsoft removed new Call of Duty releases from the membership.
This new Starter Edition adds to the flexibility of Game Pass as mentioned by Microsoft. The partnership aims to benefit both the Xbox Game Pass and Discord communities according to the statement.
