The plant has secured orders for its entire planned output, and most of that volume is for AMD, according to the report. Formal construction is due to begin this month.

The fab will use Samsung's 2-nanometre process and cover about 2.7 million square feet, roughly 1.5 times the size of the first Taylor plant, whose anchor customer is Tesla. Equipment is expected to be installed from February 2029, with mass production in 2030.

Base dies are the logic layer at the bottom of stacked HBM chips that feed AI processors. Samsung plans to pair the dies with DRAM made in Korea and deliver them to customers as finished HBM, Maeil said.

Samsung declined to comment on customer details. Reuters said it could not immediately confirm the report.
