Playground Games debunks rumors of delaying Fable to avoid clashing with GTA 6's November 19 launch. The studio posts on X confirming arrival in Autumn 2026, matching its bio. This counters Jeff Grubb's report of internal delays possibly to 2027 over GTA 6 competition. Polygon notes unannounced delays could still happen; Autumn 2026 risks proximity.

Playground Games addressed rumors of delaying Fable to avoid clashing with Grand Theft Auto 6's November 19 launch. In an X post on April 13, the studio stated, "We're excited to welcome you to Albion in Autumn 2026," responding to a user's reaction to a Fable teaser. The account's bio also reads: "Fable is coming Autumn 2026."

The post follows comments from journalist Jeff Grubb on Giant Bomb's Game Mess Mornings, where he said, “I've heard that Fable has been pushed internally... they're still trying to get it out this year, but they are worried about the launch of GTA 6. And so, if it's getting delayed beyond the release of GTA 6, that could push it into December, which might make it a prime candidate to get delayed into 2027.”

Autumn 2026 spans September 22 to December 21. A late September launch would precede GTA 6 by under two months, while late October or early November risks closer competition. Polygon notes that internal delays remain unannounced, so Grubb's report may still hold.
A December release appears less likely, as it would exclude Fable from 2026 Game Awards contention and forfeit November holiday sales weeks. GTA 6 itself launches just one day before the 2026 Game Awards eligibility cutoff.

GameStop CEO Forgoes $35B Bonus to Pursue eBay Takeover

GTA 6 to use PS5 DualSense features, confirmed PS5 Pro enhanced

Sony and Rockstar Games have detailed several PS5 hardware features that Grand Theft Auto 6 will use exclusively, while confirming the title is PS5 Pro Enhanced without revealing specifics.
